How Long Does It Take To Build A Conservatory?

The answer can vary quite a bit and is dependant on things like the size and style of conservatory you choose, eg: glass or solid roof, ground conditions, whether it's fitted on to an existing base, the amount of brickwork or building works required as well as planning permission. On average it takes around 3 to 5 weeks to build a standard conservatory.

Below you will find a guide as to how long each type of conservatory normally takes to build.

Things that can change the expected build time would include;

Needs Planning Permission

Depending on the council this can add 2-3 month to the project.

Has Mains Drains

Depending on the water board and getting relevant permissions this could add 6-8 weeks onto the project.

Is in an Outstanding Area of Natural Beauty or National Parks

Depending on the council this can add 2-3 month to the project, you may also need to change the design or colours to gain permission.

Plastering and Finishing Touches

If you are having your internal walls plastered this can add a week to the projects build time as this needs to full dry out before the internals can be finished. Tiling can also take an extra 2-3 weeks should your inside floor require a screed as that needs to fully dry out. We recommend leaving windows open as much as possible during the drying out process.

A few other items that can add time to a conservatory build;

Base-works signed off by building control
Are you having bi-folds
Knock throughs to main house
Amount of building works
Site access
Availability of materials
Adverse weather
