PVCu Porches
Bespoke PVCu porch service, from design to installation
PVCu Porches
Here at Cousins we offer a bespoke PVCu porch service, from design to installation. We can provide ‘infills’ to an existing slab base and overhang or build an entirely new porch structure to suit your needs.
You can choose from a variety of roofing options; polycarbonate, glass, Livin Roof or Ultra-tile 380 to create the space you desire.
To begin the process of creating a high-quality porch, we would create a CAD design of the proposed structure and superimpose this onto an image of your house and provide an initial, free quotation to go alongside this. If you were happy and wanted to take things further, we could then arrange a site survey to take further measurements and fine tune the details before manufacture and installation took place.
The main benefits of a porch..
- Adds insulation to the front of the house, increasing energy efficiency
- Helps prevent drafts getting inside the main home
- UPVc is very durable, low maintenance and can be wiped clean easily
- Helps to increase security due to the addition of a second lockable door between the house and the outside world
- Decrease in noise pollution from roads etc
- Creates a small extra ‘room’ that can be used as a boot and/or coat room, allowing dirty walking gear to be removed before entering the main house
- Creates extra space that can be used for storage (e.g. shoes, coats, school bags, dog leads etc)
- Often useful to pet owners (e.g. space to clean off dogs paws before entering main house. Prevents pets, such as cats, being able to run outside when the door is opened)
- Increase curb appeal of house with a smart new entrance way

Frequently asked questions
How much does a UPVC porch cost UK?
The cost would depend on a variety of factors including size, baseworks requirements, roofing type etc but the average porch, including baseworks, is approximately £12,000.00 inc VAT supplied & fully installed. We can, however, provide a free, no obligation quote to give a more accurate cost for your specific requirements and situation.
Do you need foundations for a UPVC porch?
If there is an existing canopy with adequate structural support and we are simply installing the infills for the sides, it likely won’t need foundations. If the existing canopy lacks adequate structural support or it is a brand new porch with no existing canopy in situ, foundations will likely be needed. It can vary case by case and we could advise further on your specific circumstance at the point of enquiry.
Do I need permission to build a porch?
Generally, on houses in England, a porch on the front of your house would be allowed under permitted development rights and you wouldn’t require planning permission. You would however need to ensure the porch was 2m+ away from the boundary and the highway, no more than 3 metres high and doesn’t have a floor area greater than 3 square metres.
Does adding a porch add value?
The extra space and security could certainly make the property more appealing to potential buyers, especially in properties where the front door would otherwise open up directly into the living room/kitchen etc, as it creates an entrance way to store shoes, coats etc before entering the main house.
How long does it take to build a porch UK?
The base-works would generally take approximately up to a week. The porch would then be installed taking approximately up to a week again, depending on style opted for. We could advice and collaborate on timescales once a final design was decided upon.
Should a porch be the same colour as your house?
This is completely up to you and your preferences. We can supply PVCu in a variety of colours, our most popular being plain white, mid grey and dark grey although we are also able to supply other options such as rosewood, mahogany, light oak effect etc.
